Behind the
Lens.

I’m Dean Stalker — a Brisbane-based software engineer with a long-running habit of pointing cameras at planes, trains, and anything else that makes a good noise.

By trade, I work across backend systems and web technologies using Go, PHP, Node.js, and the occasional frontend stack when required. Outside of work, I spend my time chasing good light, rough weather, interesting machinery, and the kind of moments most people walk straight past.

Most of my photography, video, and livestream content comes from around Brisbane, though I’m always keen to stretch the legs a bit further when the opportunity pops up. My style leans cinematic and moody — dark tones, strong contrast, deliberate framing, and just enough atmosphere to make things feel a little less disposable.

I’m also heavily involved in the Australian aviation streaming community, helping out behind the scenes with stream production, overlays, tooling, and technical support for local streamers including Julia Flights.

Whether it’s backend engineering, live production, or standing beside a runway fence in questionable weather waiting for “the good shot”, I enjoy building things that feel authentic, atmospheric, and a little bit different.
